Thesis map

A Zepbound fill still shrinks the calorie pool that snack bags count, while Foundayo is 98 million against 4,928 million.

Lilly sold 4,928 million dollars of Zepbound in the June quarter against 98 million of Foundayo. Worldwide revenue was 22,974 million, up 48 percent, on the 5 August table. Smucker printed Hostess Sweet Baked Snacks down 10 percent in fiscal 2026 first quarter. Circana still prints US snacks at 231 billion dollars, growing 3.2 percent in dollars. The scarce object is the fill line, not demand for the second pill.

The chain

  1. 01

    Zepbound fill

Zepbound sold 4,928 million, up 46 percent. Mounjaro sold 9,943 million, up 91 percent. Combined tirzepatide was 14,871 million of 22,974 million. Fill-finish and the device stay scarce.

  2. 02

    Calorie pool

Gallup put 11 percent of US adults currently taking a GLP-1 for weight loss, up from 3 percent two years earlier. Numerator has roughly two-thirds of former users stopping inside six months.

  3. 03

    Snack bags

Smucker printed Hostess Sweet Baked Snacks down 10 percent, volume/mix off 8 points. Circana still prints US snacks at 231 billion dollars, growing 3.2 percent in dollars. Dollars are not bags.

  4. 04

    Foundayo tablet

Foundayo is orforglipron. FDA approved it on 1 April 2026. NDA 220934. LillyDirect from 6 April. Self-pay from 149 dollars a month at the lowest dose. Medicare Part D as low as 50 dollars from 1 July.

Long side

Owns the scarce object. Named filing, named plant, named queue.

LLY

5 August earnings table

Lilly

22,974 million, up 48 percent

Volume rose 60 percent. Realized prices fell 13 percent. Incretin medicines were 65 percent of first-half revenue. The 10-Q is the factory print. A share session is not.

NVO

Novo Nordisk

Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly sit on the other side of every grocery line. Prescriptions times the price they actually collect is the one number in this chain that is growing for sure.

long

Fill-finish

A prescription for tirzepatide can be written this afternoon. A filled pen cannot. Fill-finish is a sterile room, a qualified line, and a regulator who walks the floor. The device is a second constraint.

long

The device

The device stays scarce against 4,928 million of Zepbound and 98 million of Foundayo. The tablet has no refrigeration and no food or water restrictions. The pen still has a line.

Short side

Constrained by the chain, or a substitute that is not the product.

KR

Kroger bags

Kroger still reports grocery dollars. The aisle still counts bags. If the next grocer print is sales without units, the aisle is ungraded.

SJM

Hostess snacks

Sweet Baked Snacks -10 percent

Hostess already showed the tell. A script that cuts a snack basket can still leave a Costco card in a wallet. Volume is the observation, not the dollar print.

short

Circana

Snack dollars

231 billion, +3.2 percent

Circana growing 3.2 percent in dollars while Hostess units fall is the split. Treating the category dollar as the calorie pool hides the bag.

How they interconnect

  • Zepbound fillshrinksCalorie pool

A filled Zepbound pen shrinks the calorie pool. Gallup 11 percent is the stock of people already on a GLP-1, not the next script.

  • Calorie poolcutsSnack bags

A smaller calorie pool shows up in bags before it shows up in grocer dollars. Hostess Sweet Baked Snacks already fell 10 percent.

  • Foundayo tabletis not yetZepbound fill

Foundayo at 98 million is not Zepbound at 4,928 million. Naming the tablet on the June table was the product test. The factory test is the gap.

  • LillyfillsZepbound fill

Lilly fills Zepbound. Worldwide 22,974 million, up 48 percent, still has fill-finish as the scarce room.

  • Novo NordiskshrinksCalorie pool

Novo Nordisk shrinks the same calorie pool from the other pen. Prescriptions times realized price is the growing number.

  • Fill-finishgatesZepbound fill

Fill-finish gates the pen. A clinic can write the script. A sterile line has to stay qualified.

  • The devicegatesZepbound fill

The device is a second factory. Foundayo has no refrigeration. The pen still does.

Kroger dollars can hold while bags fall. Grocery dollars are not unit volume.

A 231 billion dollar snack category growing 3.2 percent in dollars is not the fill line. Do not flatten the category into the pen.

If you believe the thesis

The scarce object is still the fill line and the device, not demand for the second pill. Foundayo, approved 1 April 2026, NDA 220934, sold 98 million in its first named Key Product quarter. Ninety-eight million against 4,928 million is the factory test. Gallup, from May to June 2026, put 11 percent of US adults currently taking a GLP-1 for weight loss, up from 3 percent two years earlier.

If the thesis is incorrect

Two consecutive Lilly 10-Qs print Foundayo larger than Zepbound. Then the tablet was the product. A grocer 10-Q that names unit volume rising while Sweet Baked Snacks stay down would also spend the aisle leg. Do not flatten 98 million into 14,871 million of combined tirzepatide.

The last printed Lilly quarter, three months ended 30 June 2026, is already public. The 5 August earnings table put worldwide revenue at 22,974 million dollars, up 48 percent. Volume rose 60 percent. Realized prices fell 13 percent. Mounjaro sold 9,943 million, up 91 percent. Zepbound sold 4,928 million, up 46 percent. Foundayo sold 98 million, its first named Key Product quarter after the 1 April label. Combined tirzepatide was 14,871 million of that 22,974 million. The 10-Q says incretin medicines were 65 percent of first-half revenue. Flatten 98 million into 14,871 million and you get a false headline. Do not flatten them.

A prescription for tirzepatide can be written in a clinic this afternoon. A filled pen cannot.

Foundayo is orforglipron, a once-daily small-molecule GLP-1 with no food or water restrictions and no refrigeration. The FDA approved it on 1 April 2026. NDA 220934. LillyDirect from 6 April. Self-pay from 149 dollars a month at the lowest dose. Medicare Part D as low as 50 dollars from 1 July. Naming the tablet on the June table was the product test. Ninety-eight million against 4,928 million is the factory test.

Fill, then the device

A prescription for tirzepatide can be written in a clinic this afternoon. A filled pen cannot. Fill-finish is a sterile room, a line that has to stay qualified, and a regulator who walks the floor. The device is a second plant. Concord, North Carolina, is the public split: one building for parenteral products, one for device assembly and packaging. Commercial production started at the end of 2024. Fierce Pharma toured the device hall in June 2025: prefilled syringes into autoinjectors. The Lilly supply page, updated 1 July 2026, names the presentations it has to make: single-dose autoinjectors, multi-dose reusable pens, single-dose vials. It says vials and multi-dose pens scale differently per unit of manufacturing capacity. That sentence is the mechanism. A vial count stays off this file.

Lebanon, Indiana, is the API campus, not the autoinjector. The 5 August print committed another 4.5 billion dollars to expand Indiana manufacturing sites. First-half purchases of property and equipment were 5,259 million dollars, against 3,207 million a year earlier. Property and equipment net 29,286 million at 30 June, against 24,675 million at year-end. Inventories 16,793 million, against 13,744 million. Those are filings. They are not doses.

David Ricks, on the Foundayo approval note, said fewer than one in ten people who could benefit from a GLP-1 are taking one. Gallup, May to June 2026, has current US adult use for weight loss at 11 percent, against 3 percent two years earlier. Brand-name products, Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, are 68 percent of current use. Those are demand facts. They do not fill a pen. Demand is not the scarce object. Fill-finish and device assembly are.

The next 10-Q will name the tablet again. One named quarter is a launch. Foundayo at 98 million is one named quarter of a tablet. Zepbound at 4,928 million is the franchise the fill-finish hall has to keep full.

The June table still sold the pen. Fill-finish and the device remain the scarce work.
