Applied Materials printed 454.71 on the owned scan of 5 September, down 1.51 percent on the five-day window. The universe was 552 names. That is a price. It is not a film. Deposition is a chamber. It is a process chamber that has to stay qualified on a named process of record, or the wafer is scrap.
The chamber has to stay qualified. The node name does not.
What the same scan did with the rest of the stack is the split. NVIDIA printed 230.36, up 5.9 percent. Micron printed 1,016.59, up 9.0 percent, with earnings in 13 days. AMD printed 477.57, up 2.6 percent. Intel printed 95.8, up 7.1 percent. Friday 4 September Technology was down 1.51 percent. Energy was up 1.66 percent. The S&P 500 closed 7,718.6, down 0.38 percent, with 42 percent advancing. The Nasdaq 100 closed 29,544.2, up 0.21 percent. A mixed average can hide a split. A five-day dip in the tool while the GPU and the stack bid can hide it twice.
A deposition chamber is the vessel that puts a film on the wafer. Chemical vapor, physical vapor, atomic layer, epitaxy. Different recipes, same object: a chamber that has to hold temperature, pressure, chemistry, and uniformity long enough for the film to land inside spec. Yield lives inside that range. The brochure lives outside it. What Applied Materials sells is a chamber that stays on the process of record, or it fails as extra steps, extra etches, extra scrap.
Foundries sell a node. N3, N2, 18A, gate-all-around. Those are names on a slide out of Hsinchu, Hwaseong, or Hillsboro. Applied Materials sells the chamber that has to stay qualified under that name. Gate-all-around and backside power add films. They do not ship a chamber by slogan. Extra films can keep a name the old stack could not. Fewer films can keep a name the chamber already held. The name does not disclose which chamber sat on the wafer, or whether it is still the one the fab is allowed to run.
The 10-Q for the quarter ended 26 July 2026 is already public. Two reportable segments. Semiconductor Systems 7,040 million dollars, 77 percent of 9,115. Applied Global Services 1,781 million, 20 percent. Other 294 million. The filing says Semiconductor Systems includes deposition, etch, rapid thermal processing, chemical mechanical planarization, metrology and inspection, wafer packaging, and ion implantation. Applied Global Services is services, spares, and factory automation to keep that equipment performing. Systems is the new chamber. Services is the chamber that has to stay qualified. They are not one sleeve. A five-day print at 454.71 is neither line.
Inside the systems book the same 10-Q split the customer, not the chamber. Foundry, logic and other 67 percent. DRAM 26 percent. NAND 7 percent. That is where the films sit. The 13 August prepared remarks called deposition a record, including PVD, CVD, and epitaxy. Issuer language. Not an Analytics24 series. A record in dollars is still not a shipment of chambers.
High-bandwidth memory still has to be stacked before the part ships. The film is the remaining object. The die can wait on a scanner. The stack can wait on a window. The film still has to come out of a chamber that the process of record has already qualified.
It is a requalification. The recipe, the hardware revision, the consumables, the metrology, and the yield window all have to pass again. The customer who cannot leave is the rent. Treating a tool as a node arriving is how a reader misses that the chamber already sitting in the bay is the product, as long as it stays qualified.
Lam Research printed 307.65 the same scan, up 1.9 percent on the five-day window. That is another tool name. Lam etches and deposits. KLA printed 185.6, up 5.73 percent. That is inspection and metrology. ASML was not a row. TE Connectivity already has a harness page. Do not borrow a lithography print we do not hold, and do not mash four tool names into one wafer-fab sleeve.
Analytics24 does not own a chamber-shipment series. We do not own a deposition-mix series. We do not own a process-of-record count. Other people's notes can run units, share, and won the inflection. Those are their claims. Until an Applied Materials call prints whether the chamber is still the qualified object, and whether the installed base still has to stay on the recipe, treat every node slogan as weather. Do not invent a shipment the 5 September scan did not carry.
Deposition is a chamber.
